All faculty, graduate students, and staff are cordially invited to the next meeting of the recently revived chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) at UNC Charlotte on Wednesday, January 22, 12:15-1:15 p.m., Friday 107. As we relaunch our chapter — there was a chapter here some years ago — we would like to broaden participation as widely as possible, across the colleges. For a list of our scheduled meetings this semester (all meetings will be held in Friday 107), please see below. Later this spring, we will elect new officers.
The AAUP mission is “to advance academic freedom and shared governance; to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education; to promote the economic security of faculty, academic professionals, graduate students, post‐doctoral fellows, and all those engaged in teaching and research in higher education; to help the higher education community organize to make our goals a reality; and to ensure higher education’s contribution to the common good.”
Whether you are able to attend the meetings or not, we welcome your input regarding the most important goals and issues for this chapter to address.
Our chapter was formed last November and joins other AAUP chapters at UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-G, ASU, Elon, and Wake Forest: https://aaupnorthcarolina.wordpress.com/
